Four Corners Project – January 2026
Passing along an update I received from the City Engineer about the ongoing Four Corners Project (Ravenna Road – Shepard Road – Broadway Avenue – Richmond Road Intersection)
Four Corners Project Update – Construction 2025-2026
The start of the intersection improvement work was delayed due to utility coordination for gas line relocation and power poles. Cleveland Water pulled initial permit and rescinded lowering of 16” watermain from the pump station on Shepard Road. As a result, we submitted revised plans in August for water work on the project. Agreement with Cleveland Water reached September 22nd for shutdown of the 16” line in coordination with Cleveland Water project to install additional line valves to isolate pump station and backfeed the lift station on Shepard Road. This resulted in a closure/detour of Southbound Shepard Road traffic.
In the meantime, hydrants and valves on Ravenna Road / Broadway relocated and storm sewer work completed on those legs of the intersection in September. Ravenna Road leg widening was excavated and curbs formed and driveways poured with base asphalt installed.
With utility poles relocated and Cleveland Water issues resolved the installation of storm sewer on Shepard Road could continue in November / December. All underground storm installation complete Dec. 18. The contractor was still attempting to complete concrete drive aprons – however weather has been unseasonable cold, then warm, then snow, then rain, Finally, the week of January 5th provided a thaw and break in cold weather to pour concrete driveways.
We anticipate work to begin again in late spring for completion in 2026. The following work items remain:
- Traffic Signal Poles on backorder (tentative April) and
- Asphalt plants reopen with temperatures for surface asphalt installation, we will mill and resurface intersection
- Remaining asphalt driveways, some curb work on Shepard Rd and final landscaping.
