Winter Weather & Road Salt Update – City of Twinsburg

With the National Weather Service’s Winter Storm Watch in effect for this weekend, we wanted to share an update on the city’s preparedness efforts and the steps we are taking to be ready and keep everyone safe and informed.

Like many communities across Northeast Ohio, the City of Twinsburg is currently experiencing road salt supply issues due to regional shortages from our supplier, Cargill. While we received two truckloads yesterday, future shipments will follow based on availability and scheduling.

Crews will be operating in a sensible salting mode, carefully rationing and prioritizing salt for hills, curves, intersections, bridges, and main and secondary roads. In these areas, we will use strategic spot salting to allow traffic to help carry salt during active snowfall. Flat, residential streets may receive little or no salt during this period.

While all roads will continue to be plowed, residents may not see wet pavement on every roadway, as our current salt supply makes that simply not possible.

Our crews will do their very best to keep roads as safe and clear as possible. If you must travel, please allow extra time, drive cautiously, and give plenty of space to snowplows.

Reminder: Avoid parking on the street during snow fall so our crews can plow effectively.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation and will share updates as more information becomes available. Stay safe, Twinsburg!
