Safeguard Your Pipes Against Freezing Temperatures
Passing along a note I received from Associated Property Management to safeguard your pipes and home in freezing temperatures.

With the coldest weather about to arrive in our area over the weekend and early next week with wind chills well below freezing, please be sure to take a moment to do the following to help prevent your pipes from freezing:
Maintain Your Thermostat
Make sure you’ll be able to keep your thermostat running continuously by keeping spare batteries on hand. Keep at a minimum of 60 degrees if not at home during the winter.
Keep Water Flowing
If any of your indoor faucets are located on exterior walls, set your faucets to a slow drip. Faucets and pipes located along exterior walls are especially susceptible to freezing. For maximum effectiveness, make sure both the hot and cold lines are open slightly since both are vulnerable. By leaving cabinet doors open it allows your pipes to be warmed by the room air.
Keep Garage Doors Closed
This will help to keep cold air out of your house and protect plumbing fixtures in your garage as well as pipes in the shared walls between the house and garage.
These are a couple common ways to help prevent your pipes from freezing, however; for further information regarding safeguarding against frozen pipes, refer to https://www.redcross.org/get-help/how-to-prepare-for-emergencies/types-of-emergencies.html
